Photography, Fashion & Jewelry "ONE STOP"

12:15 PM 0 Comments

Tracey Tomtene
Photography ~ Fashion ~ Jewelry.....

I create and hand stamp metal designs with words and phrases greatly inspired by yoga, the sea, travelling and remaining positive. I hand transfer my travel photography, mostly nature related, into jewelry settings and onto wood blocks (leaving only the ink) and print onto wood, metal and canvas and clothing too!

I can personalize a wood block or photo jewel with your own photo as well as stamp any word or phrase onto my metal designs.

I care very much about the ocean and all its inhabitants and want to be part of the solution to current environmental issues whether it be monetary or by action volunteering my time and living sustainable.

If you'd like to be notified about discounts and promotions and/or read about my travels, sign up for my newsletter below. I send out updates sporadically, erratically and irregularly but definitely not too often;) Your email address will be protected by fierce tigers!

Unique with Buttons!

Mona Ledwin ~ Silicone Molds of Antique buttons

About

I am a certified PMC (precious metal clay) and Art Clay Silver instructor and have been teaching about eight years. I make most of my own molds for my students to use in classes. Many of the molds are of antique buttons in my personal collection. My students were always asking to buy my molds so I decided I should open an etsy shop that will include the button molds and other related items.

I also make jewelry and do some lampworking, quilting, enameling, wireworking, beading, and more!

Last Minute Flapper Costume for Under $40

Halloween is clearly the best time of year at Brit + Co. It’s the time when we get to flex our creativity muscles and DIY some of our favorite costumes. From power couple Hillary and Billto Stockholm-syndromed Beauty and the Beast, we’ve got you covered, even those who don’t have time or budget to craft a costume of their dreams.
Check it. This amazing flapper outfit (comprised of this headpiece and this dress) is your new Halloween BFF. Not only is it under $40, but it also is available via Amazon Prime, meaning it gets delivered to your door for FREE in TWO days. Give us your lazy, your poor, your last-minute-Halloween-planning asses… we got you! Add a string of pearls, some sexy shoes and you’re ready to go. The best part about this costume is that you can totally wear it again (New Year’s Eve party, done!). So brush off your dancing shoes and Charleston your way to a night of fun.

This costume is the bee’s knees! It’s enough to make a girl dance and shout.

Look at this dress, tho. Watch how it swings, sways and sparkles!

We are obsessed with this headpiece. It’s the perfect look to bring back the feel of the Roaring Twenties.

The Easiest Way to Make Resin Jewelry

The Easiest Way to Make Resin Jewelry

Buy your Silicone from my shop
Amazing Molds 4 you.

We’ve all seen cool resin pendants at jewelry shops, boutiques, and on fashionistas everywhere. And while we know this is something you can do at home, we weren’t totally down with what seemed like a really complicated process. Well, turns out it is easier than we thought… but still has more steps than most of our tutorials.

If you’ve always wondered if you could make resin jewelry in the comfort of your home, the answer is yes. You just need a few simple tools, all available on our favorite online craft store, Amazon ;)
Materials:
– EasyCast Crafting Epoxy, Clear
– EasyCast Resin Jewelry Mold
– wax paper

– latex gloves

– medicine cups (from cough syrup)

– condiment squeeze bottle

– blow dryer

– wooden popsicle stick

– shoebox or plastic bin (to cover molds as they harden)

– resin fillers: studs, jewelry, dried flowers, feathers, etc

– jewelry items: ring pads, clasps, flat safety pins,

– E-6000 quick hold adhesive (if making rings or pins)

– optional: cheap plastic measuring cup (if doing a large batch)

While you get your “fillers” together, place the resin and hardener bottles in a bowl of hot water.

This helps the resin mix nicely, and helps avoid air bubbles. Be sure to cover your work-space with wax paper – resin does not wash off! Next, get your fillers ready. We came up with all sorts of good stuff to re-purpose, source, print out, and sprinkle for our resin molds.

We’ve got re-purposed jewelry, flowers and twigs found outside, sprinkles (yes, sprinkles!), plastic spiders for Halloween, and, of course, glitter! We also printed out a little Brit + Co. logo and wrote “143” (’90a pager-speak for I Love You) which we mod podged into a bottle cap.

Use your resin mold to organize your fillers. Cut down what you need to so that you can quickly put everything together once you pour the resin.

Now it’s time to mix the resin! If you’re just making one or two pieces, you can use an old cough syrup measuring up to mix one part resin with one part hardener. Mix for two minutes straight and be sure to scrap the sides of your cup often.

AWESOME PRODUCT CALLED "SUGRU"

2:08 PM 0 Comments
Top 10 DIY Miracles You Can Accomplish with "Sugru"

"Sugru", is a mold-able silicone that can fix or improve just about anything.
This is a product that has so many uses I could never list them all but I will list 10 so you can rate it yourself!

10. Refill Travel Toothpaste Bottles

If you're heading on a trip and need a plane-sized bottle of toothpaste—but your travel supply is running dangerously low—you can refill those travel sized bottles with just a little bit of Sugru. If you're very careful, you could do this without Sugru, of course, but if your hand just isn't steady enough, the Sugru will ensure your toothpaste ends up in the bottle and not all over the floor.

9. Revive Old Appliances

If you have an old stove, stereo receiver, or other appliance that's wearing off its engraved lettering, this trick is pretty awesome: just rub some Sugru into the letter indentations, wipe off the excess, and you've got yourself a much newer-looking device. It won't work with every appliance, unfortunately—the lettering needs to be somewhat engraved for this to work, not just painted on—but it's a really clever tip for the appliances it does work with.

8. Get a Grip

Got a rusty old faucet that's tough to twist? Some arthritis medication that's ironically hard to open? Slap a little Sugru on there to get a better grip. Just about anything you need to exert force on, Sugru can make a bit better. Bonus tip: Next time you get those pills, you can actually ask for them with an easy-open top at the pharmacy, too.

7. Protect Your Gadgets

Some of us are just plain gravity challenged. If you have a bit of Sugru lying around, you can protect nearly any gadget with it. Stick some on the corners of your iPhone to create small bumpers. Throw some on the bottom of your laptop if the little rubber feet have worn off. You can even put it on your camera—you know, if you want your camera to look like a clown—to protect it from drops.

6. Get Your Game On

Awhile back, we asked you guys what your favorite Sugru-related projects were, and we got some good tips in return. But none were quite as involved or awesome as Aaron Schmersal's custom game pad for his phone. It's essentially a custom version of the Game Gripper, except you can use whatever button placement (and color) you want.

5. Mount Your Gadgets Anywhere

Why buy a dashboard mount for your MP3 player when you can build one that fits perfectly with just a few pieces of Sugru? The beauty of this is that it works with any device, not just iDevices—which is unfortunately most of the mounts out there. If you have a lesser-known Android phone or another less popular device, you're always guaranteed a good fit with DIY.

4. Solve USB Port Woes

If you have an iMac with hard-to-reach USB ports in the back, plugging things in can get annoying. Similarly, if you have a laptop that you use as a desktop, plugging in each cable individually every single time can get tedious. Luckily, you can solve both of these problems with Sugru. For the desktop, just throw a few extension cords into an easier-to-reach spot with Sugru (the video above uses the side, but you could make it a lot less ugly by hiding them just out of sight on the back). For the laptop, you can put your important cables together with a custom "docking station."Again, it looks ugly, but with the right tweaks—like maybe some aluminum casing—it could be a dream come true.

3. Repair Anything

Here's where Sugru really starts to shine: DIY repairs. For example, if you have a laptop power cable that's starting to fray and expose its insides, a bit of Sugru is all you need to patch it up. The same logic goes for broken earbudsleaky hosestorn shoes, and more. Heck, you can even fix broken buttons on your phone if you know what you're doing.

2. Hang On to Everything

Some little things are just asking to get lost in the daily hustle and bustle of life. Like that little adapter for your laptop power cable, or even your keys. With a bit of Sugru—and some helper material, like LEGO—you can hang just about anything anywhere, or at least keep some of that stuff together so you don't lose it when you go out.

1. Make Your Own "Oogoo"

Sugru is awesome, but it does have one downside: if you start to use a lot of it, it can get a little expensive. Luckily, you don't actually have to buy Sugru to make any of these hacks work. You can make your own Oogoo, a Sugru-like substance, at home with some simple household ingredients. Then hack away to your heart's desire.
